Unable to excavate their own cavities, goldeneyes are in constant search for good nesting sites. With a larger entrance hole than the Wood Duck House, this house features an appropriate opening size for Goldeneyes. It should be mounted on a tree or post over or near water. The house has a wire ladder to help the ducklings climb out. A lower side guard protects the nest when the side is open for observation. Plus the entire side opens for cleaning. It includes wood chips for nesting material with should be renewed each nesting cycle.

These birds breed on wooded lakes and ponds. They winter mainly on coastal bays and estuaries.

You may find them in Alaska and across Canada to Newfoundland and the Maritime Provinces, south to mountains in Montana and Great Lakes. The ducks winter in much of the United States, wherever water is open. They can also be found in Eurasia.
